Our 2012 Christmas Card & Letter

Happy Holidays from the Kambestad Family

We’ll start by sharing the best news of the year:  We are now a blessed family of FIVE!  Okay…three humans and two fur-babies.  We welcomed an incredible baby boy, Cooper Nash Kambestad, on September 5th, 2012 at 4:43 pm.  He weighed 9 pounds (yes, you read that correctly) and was 21.5 inches long.  He is amazing and already has us wrapped around his adorable, pudgy little fingers.  Lucky for us, we’ve had our parents “rotating shifts” in Nashville.  It’s been such an enormous gift having their support, and Cooper is definitely (& deservedly) spoiled.  We can’t wait to introduce Cooper to the rest of the family very soon – and you, too!

Other big news:  Eric and I purchased our first home together…in Nashville.  After many signs, we feel that this is where we’re supposed to be.  We certainly hope to get back “home” sometime in the future, but for now we’re excited to be homeowners and make a beautiful home for our family.  Our new address is on the back of the card…please update your address books and keep in touch.

Eric has had quite a busy and fun-filled year.  He began the year as a Developer at School of the Legends, but in August decided to search for a new challenge and opportunity.  Within 5 days of looking, he was hired at Raven Tools as a Developer.  He loves the job, co-workers and work environment.  During the past year, he ran in his first half marathon (the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville – we’re both doing it in 2013, too).  He also ran in a 4K with 3 friends called the Tap n’ Run where you dress up (they were Magnum PI) and run a K then drink a beer, rinse and repeat.  He played in an all-men’s softball league and their team was called The Ricky Vaughn Express.  Eric joined the Golf Week Amateur Tour, playing in many tournaments as well. He is looking forward to introducing golf to Cooper…that, and baseball, football, video games, etc.  They’re going to have a blast together…they already are.

Kaitlyn began the year (literally January 1st) learning about the pregnancy.  She blogged about and took photos of her journey, which you can view at www.kaitlynkambestad.blogspot.com.  She worked at School of the Legends until June, but was offered a (more stable) position at Lattimore, Black, Morgan & Cain, PC by the CFO of SOTL who also happens to be a Managing Partner at LBMC.  While she enjoys the company, she will likely transfer her Los Angeles SAG/AFTRA membership to Nashville to pursue some sort of entertainment career on the side.  She already has an agent and is excited about doing something creative again.  For now though, she is extremely happy with her favorite job:  Being a mommy – playing with and raising her wonderful son.

Cooper (as of December 5th) is 3 months old.  How did that happen so quickly?  Our little Hercules weighs 15+ pounds and his head circumference is in the 98th percentile.  He has a milk protein allergy, so we had to put him on a special, hypoallergenic formula that he seems to be doing well on – that, Zantac and a probiotic…He’s a trooper.  He loves tummy time, kicking his legs, smiling, laughing and sticking his tongue out at you.  Cooper Nash is darling, and we are all so smitten.

Banjo and Ukulele are adjusting to being big sisters quite nicely.  Lele is pretty relaxed - she just wants to cuddle. Banjo has been very curious about who has joined our little family and misses being the center of attention.  Both pugs are protective over baby boy and they love him already.

The family is looking forward to the trips they have planned for the end of 2012 and summer of 2013:  Scottsdale for Christmas, and Maui in August.  Eric and Kaitlyn can’t wait to experience vacations with their little boy – Cooper is such fun!

We wish you & your family a very happy holiday.  May your 2013 be filled with joy, peace & love.

Sending Pugs and Cooper Kisses from Nashville,
The Kambestad Family ~ Eric, Kaitlyn, Cooper, Banjo & Ukulele

I can totally relate to your blog! My little man, Cohen, was born October 24th so he isn't far behind Cooper. Cohen also has a milk protein intolerance and has major gas problems. I am on a dairy-free diet since I am breastfeeding, however, we have had to supplement with formula a few times while getting dairy out of my system. Our pediatrician put him on Enfamil's Nutramigen formula and it works wonders! (But of course is very expensive!) Luckily, he has always switched right back to BF and does great as long as we are both dairy-free. Dieting is hard but I agree, anything- ANYTHING for him to feel better. There isn't a slice of cheese in this world that is worth him being in so much pain and screaming for hours on end. Great job on doing what is best for Cooper and your family... that's all that matters! Good Luck and congrats!
