Super Bowl XLV

The company Eric and I work for, School of the Legends, participated in a lot of Super Bowl Events. Leading up to these events was a lot of hard work, long hours, preparation, and more...On Monday, January 31, the production team, Eric and I boarded the SOTL Prevost tour bus thinking we were going to depart at 5AM and head to Dallas...what we didn't know was...what should be an 11 hour trip, was about to double. No seriously, it was 22 hours on the bus.

We departed on time, and most of us were still asleep. When we awoke, we were 15 miles in the wrong direction, in the Hemphill Brothers tour bus garage because...da da da daaaa...the bus had issues, and basically broke down. Some of us opted to leave and go get breakfast...and hours later...we got back on the road. As we were driving, I was getting angry and panicked phone calls from the rest of the SOTL team that were flying to Dallas because there was a Winter Storm happening all over, including Dallas, and flights. were. cancelled. Lots of phone calls, and drama later...Everyone was on their way. We stopped in some podunk town and had a lovely "mexican" dinner in a place that clearly used to be a taco bell, and got back on the road...so tired. As we were 30 miles away from our hotel, driving through snow and ice - there was a HUGE wreck on the freeway where 2 semi's crashed...so we were stopped for an hour, and redirected for an hour. Finally, we arrived at the hotel at....well I don't even remember, but I know it was past 2AM. Our hotel was the HOTEL LAWRENCE, but we "lovingly" renamed it Larry. Lawrence just seemed too classy. ;)

The events were AMAZING! We filmed some incredible Legends - Jason Witten (who Cass and I have a crush on now), DeSean Jackson, Warren Moon, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Michael Vick and Larry Fitzgerald. Eric and I also got to go to the EA Madden Super Bowl party! We met so many people, networked, and hung out with our friends Wes, Kyle and Kevin Carter...

On our way back to the Larry, it was SNOWING. MAJORLY! Poor Eric could hardly see...The roads were covered - you couldn't see the lines, cars were stranded, there were wrecks all over the place. Luckily, he's a stud and dropped everyone off and got us to Larry safe and sound. :)

More events (Pulse Awards, the Super Bowl Gospel Event and VIP Reception, and our own productions), and dinners (including a delish meal at Hooters!), and good times, and not so good times later...it was time to leave! We departed the Larry after a long, albeit fantastic day of shooting, toasted to our success and, pardon the lack of using a real word, "done-ness" of the trip in the Larry bar, and took off! We had an awesome dinner at a sushi place just outside of Dallas, opened a bottle o' vino on the bus, played music, talked, and went to bed. It was a FANTASTIC drive home, with an awesome group of people! :) Good bus crew! LOVE YOU GUYS!

It was insane, and wonderful! I can't wait for SUPER BOWL next year in Indy! (Pending the CBA...Yikes!)
