Valentine's Bliss

I love Valentine's Day. (Or Hallmark Day, Single's Awareness...whatever you choose to call it.) I think that love - any kind of love - should have a day to be celebrated. Wedding days, anniversaries, mother/father's days (etc.) are great, too. But ya gotta love Valentine's Day, also! Whether you go out with your girls or guys, whether you're alone, or whether you have a date...you get to dedicate a day to love! Okay yes...If you haven't figured it out, I'm a lil' bit of a romantic. :)

Many of my previous Valentine's Days were spent with my best friends, and many were spent with boyfriends. Some were incredibly romantic, some were filled with laughs and fun, and some were...not...any of these. Haha! Some people put thought into what they got me and into what they wrote in their cards, while others literally googled "romantic valentine's present" and wrote "Love, BlahBlah" on the card. I think it's all about being thoughtful and making your "someone," your friends, yourself; whomever you spend the day with - feel loved and special. WHICH SHOULD BE DONE EVERY DAY - but it's nice to have a day that honors love.

This is Eric and my second Valentine's together. It was such a wonderful day. We toasted champagne at midnight (right when Valentine's began) and watched movies. We fell asleep, and slept in, which was so great. My parents sent me a cute card and called to wish us a Happy Val Day, and his mom texted us with a bunch of sweet messages and photos too. :) I love our families! (and PS - Happy Birthday to my awesome Bro-in-Law, BRIAN!!!! Woot!) My stomach hurt a little so he went, without even being asked, to the store and got me sprite to help calm it down. We stayed together on the couch and just relaxed, and watched more movies together; yes, he watched chickie movies like Sweet Home Alabama and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and didn't even complain! Sweetest! Then we toasted another glass of champage mixed with a little Chambord to Valentine's #2 of...forever. We got ready for a night out, and headed to dinner at a great place called Saffire in Franklin. We had the Sweetheart menu which was phenominal:

A glass of a pinot, cab and merlot blend.

A steamed artichoke drizzled with hollandaise sauce and stuffed with shrimp, oysters and crabmeat.

A salad with candied walnuts, strawberries, hearts of palm and a vinaigrette dressing.

A filet of beef tenderlion with crabmeat on top, served with asaparagus, carrots and potatoes anna.

Lastly for dessert, two cream puffs; one white chocolate, and one milk chocolate, in the shape of swans with a custard and raspberry dressing on the side.

And a glass of sparkling champagne.

TALK ABOUT AN AMAZING MEAL!!!! We'd been eating VERY healthy this week, so it was a treat to have this incredible dinner. We talked about our future, how we might get a puppy soon, our goals, and just really fun stuff...it was a great time.

Following dinner, we headed to 3rd and Lindsley, a local music venue and bar to hear a woman named Jonell Mosser sing. We got a bottle of Pinot Noir and enjoyed her ridiculous band (Eric knew all the musicians from the union of which he is a member), and her absolutely fantastic voice. It was like Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, and whoever else has soul that makes singing look fantasically easy. I was blown away.

After the 2 set show ended super late night, we decided to go ahead and continue to cheat on our healthy way of eating, because why not, right? We stopped at...ew...a fast food place - which I won't even mention, haha. Gross, I know, but we wanted it for some bizzare reason. We got home, exchanged cards - YAY (and his was SO sweet, even had a pug on it!) - watched yet another movie, and headed to sleep. It was a fantastic day, and I am so glad that I got to spend it with the most wonderful man.

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day, too! Should you feel particularly moved, comment or email with what you did! :) I'd love to hear!!!
